Blue Moon has soft, velvety, bright-green foliage and bears abundant crops of interesting, tube-shaped, light-blue, tasty fruit - reminds us of a cross between blueberry and blackberry flavors. Wait to pick the flavorful berries until the inside looks purplish instead of green; the outside turns blue long before the berries are fully ripe!
Blue Moon needs a late-blooming pollinizer, like Blue Velvet or Blue Pacific, and will produce reliably in the Pacific Northwest in mid-late May. This attractive, arching bush grows quickly to about 2'-3' tall and wide. Plants prefer full sun in cooler climates, and partial shade in warmer locations, and well-drained soil.
