A VERY late-ripening and cold hardy pear widely grown in Sweden for winter storage. Johantorp will hang on the tree late into the winter. They can be picked in very late fall and stored or in areas with mild winters, eaten directly off the tree at Christmas time! One of the favorites of Joseph Postman, longtime curator of pears at the Corvallis OR National Germplasm Repository.
