SLO Red Plum

Prunus cerasifera 'SLO Red'

A red-leafed seedling of the leading ornamental plum Thundercloud. SLO Red was discovered by Doug Bullock in San Luis Obispo, California. Unlike its parent, it annually produces a good crop of small but tasty red fruit. Beautiful and bountiful!

Prefers slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils. Water deeply and regularly during the first few growing seasons to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. For a tidy, neat appearance, prune annually in June to shape and reduce suckering without stimulating more growth.

Cold Hardy to USDA Zone: 4

Mature Height:  15'

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: Early Midseason

Pollination: Self Fertile

Rootstock: St Julian
