Dauphine Fig

Ficus carica 'Dauphine'

This venerable fig, originally from France, offers dainty, firm figs with brown/green skin and brownish flesh. Because they hold their shape so well they are ideal for stuffing and exquisite presentations on fruit and cheese boards. They produce two crops and the breba (early) summer crop ripened well and tasted good at the Mt. Vernon research station in cool Western Washington.

The breba (summer) crop, weighs in averaging 100 to 220 grams per fig, versus the fall crop, averaging 50 to 115 grams in weight. This variety grown from tissue culture has been heat-treated to significantly reduce the presence of Fig Mosaic Virus.

Cold Hardy to USDA Zone: 7

Mature Height: 10'-15'

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: Twice in hotter climates/August-October

Pollination: Self-Fertile
